AHEPA Family Parades Greek Pride!

Beginning with the ceremonial raising of the Greek Flag in front of City Hall, Philadelphia’s celebration of Greek Independence, hosted by the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley, spanned the entire weekend and attracted Greek Americans and AHEPA Family members from all around the Mid-Atlantic region. Also present were the ceremonial Evzones, the world renowned Presidential Guards of Greece, who made the celebration all the more special.

Supreme President Tsivicos represented AHEPA at the weekend’s events alongside His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey; Ambassador of Greece to the US Ekaterini Nassika; National Commander of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, Dr. Anthony Limberakis, MD, who received the Federation’s Eleftheria Award at their Eleftheria Banquet; and President of the Pancyprian Association of America, Philip Christopher, who served as Grand Marshal of Sunday’s Greek Independence Day Parade.

Also representing the AHEPA Family were Supreme Counselor Themis Frangos, Supreme Governor Georgio Comninos, Board of Trustees Vice Chairman George G. Horiates PSP, DOP PGP Georgette Boulegeris, SOP Supreme Treasurer George T. Horiates & MOA Grand Governor Markella Roros, along with many District and Chapter officers who came out to represent in full force!

AHEPA was also represented at the 2024 Greek Heritage Parade in Chicago, IL, hosted by The Federation of Hellenic-American Organizations (ENOSIS) and sponsored by Greektown Special Service Area #16. Members from both Districts 13 and District 12 joined together to march in honor of Greek Independence and Hellenic Pride.

The AHEPA Supreme Lodge was represented by Supreme Treasurer Demetrios Kirkiles, Supreme Athletic Director Chris Atsaves, and Supreme Governor George C. George, who all served as Honorary Marshals of the parade. Thank you to everyone who braved the pouring rain in the windy city to come represent for AHEPA!

AHEPA Family Visits White House

Members of the AHEPA Family were honored to attend the Greek Independence Day Celebration hosted by President Joseph R. Biden at the White House. The President spoke alongside His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros about his close relationship with the Greek American community, and how the US and Greece are connected in that they share values, aspirations, and belief in all that is possible.

This annual celebration brings together members of the Greek American community from across the United States, and AHEPA is thankful for the opportunity to have been able to participate.

Weirton Brother hits #1 on Amazon New Release List!

Last week, Brother Harry Psaros of Hancock Chapter 103 in Weirton , VA, released his new book entitled “From Struggle to Strength: A Father’s Journey with Autism and the Power of Hope and Positivity”.
Brother Harry’s book provides valuable guidance on fostering a child’s development, emphasizing the crucial mental qualities and perspectives required to successfully parent a child with autism.
Brother Harry wrote this book to fulfill the need for literature written by fathers of autistic children on this subject. While there are many resources on parenting and guiding children with autism, the vast majority of them are written by mothers. A national organization that Brother Harry had given a speech for made a request for him to write this book after hearing him speak about his experience and he delivered.

The book’s reviews sing it’s praises, and Harry’s brother Michael recommends readers “read what he says throughout the book about Faith and Hellenism (our culture) as his twin pillars.” His family and Chapter Brothers are incredibly proud of him! As of today, the book is ranked as #1 New Release in Amazon’s “Family and Parent” category!
Congratulations, Brother Harry!
