Rajdavica Film Fest expands beyond Razhdavitsa with a new travelling initiative bringing independent cinema closer to audiences in Bulgaria and abroad.
Rajdavica Film Fest is expanding beyond its home in Razhdavitsa with a new travelling initiative — Rajdavica Film Fest – On the Road.
The project will bring selections of independent short films from the festival programme to new audiences in Bulgaria and abroad.
And the screen can appear almost anywhere.
The events can take place in towns and villages, universities, cultural centres, community spaces, bars, alternative venues, outdoor locations or other places that can become a temporary home for cinema. Each event can have its own character, depending on the location, the audience and the selected films.
Where possible, screenings will also be accompanied by conversations, meetings with filmmakers and opportunities for audiences and creators to connect.
The initiative is another step in the development of Rajdavica Film Fest as a platform that remains active beyond its main annual edition and builds connections between independent filmmakers, cultural organisations, venues and audiences.
Festival founder and organiser Anatoli Kostov says:
“I come from television, where we are always looking for the next story. With this festival, I discovered something different — sometimes the story begins after the film ends. Someone stays to talk, two people exchange contacts, a filmmaker discovers a new place, or an audience discovers a part of the world they knew nothing about. If On the Road can create more moments like these, then it has a reason to exist.”
The first destinations, dates and programmes of Rajdavica Film Fest – On the Road will be announced gradually.
