The Canadian Order of AHEPA proudly welcomes and supports the initiative to officially designate March as Greek Heritage Month across Canada, through Bill S-220, sponsored by the Honourable Senator Tony Loffreda.
For generations, Canadians of Hellenic descent have made significant contributions to the social, cultural, educational, economic, and civic life of our great country. Their achievements reflect the enduring values of Hellenism — democracy, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and respect for our cultural heritage.
As an organization with a long and distinguished history of service to Hellenism and Canadian society, the Canadian Order of AHEPA recognizes the importance of preserving our language, history, traditions, and identity while sharing the richness of Greek civilization with all Canadians.
The recognition of Greek Heritage Month at the national level would represent an important tribute to the generations of Greek immigrants who helped build our communities, while inspiring younger generations to embrace their heritage with pride.
We commend Senator Tony Loffreda for sponsoring this legislative initiative and acknowledge the Greek Community of Toronto and other Hellenic organizations for their efforts in bringing attention to this important cause.
The Canadian Order of AHEPA stands ready to work collaboratively with community organizations, elected representatives, and institutions across Canada to advance the recognition and celebration of our shared Hellenic heritage.
Our Greek heritage is not simply a remembrance of our past. It is a living legacy, a source of pride in our present, and a responsibility to future generations.
Ζήτω ο Ελληνισμός!
